Barely.
Well, summer was crazy, and now school is back in, so life is….crazy.
A few months ago, a cute girl in my neighborhood drew a watercolor of my family, and I loved it so much I had her draw up a few things for me. I’ve had this scene for months, and I can’t believe I haven’t shared it yet! Those who have read the book will know which scene this is from. Those who haven’t, you’ll just have to wait and see!
PS- Nash and Joe are quickly becoming my favorite people ever.
But until then, here’s a little peek:
I look around, watching the tiny balls of light float between us, and all I can think of is that this is magic. Real magic. Magic that can only be found in books.
“This is incredible,” I laugh, holding out both of my hands so I can catch more.
Nash lifts his hand higher, and all of the lights jump, and then explode into thousands of little pieces, so when they drift around me, I’m surrounded by so much light it’s like glitter is falling from the sky. I reach my hand out, and though I can’t catch them anymore, the warmth feels good on my skin.
“Why don’t you do this all the time?” I ask, turning my body all the way around so I can see every angle of this amazing picture.
“Light is too hard to find in the darkness,” he says.
I twist so our shoulders are touching, but we’re facing opposite directions. “But you wouldn’t be in the dark if you brought the light.”
Fast forward ten chapters:
“For sixty seconds. For a day. A month. For years. I choose you, Joe. I’ll always choose you. Even when I can’t.”
One minute.
A mark forever because of one minute.
